When filmmaker and Doctor Who fan Lucas Testro tries to find out, he finds himself in a very different story than he ever expected. A story of broken family, drunken debauchery, dreams and heartbreak, and a talented, troubled man whose creative triumphs came from an all too human pain.

These 3 x 45 minute episodes feature interviews with Donald's friends, family and former collaborators; Doctor Who luminaries like Toby Hadoke and former Target Books editor Nigel Robinson; and recreated excerpts from Donald Cotton's theatre comedy sketches and radio plays, based on newly discovered archival material.
